We normally recommend arriving at the airport well in advance to go through security, passport control and check-in luggage.Malaga airport is normally a fluid airport. But on weekends or high season and special events it may experience some delays. This is normal for any airport.
There may be long lines to check-in or to pass the security check.

How much time in advance is recommended to arrive at the airport?
2 or 3 hours.
Time in advance for domestic flights
AENA recommends being at the airport two or three hours in advance. But for domestic flights it is recommended that you show up at the airport 90 minutes before the departure of the flight.
Time in advance for international flights.
For international flights: Check-in generally opens 2 hours before departure and closes 60 minutes before scheduled departure.
Important: Remember that passengers who are late for check-in may be denied boarding.
If your trip includes a visa, you must show up 3 hours before the departure of the flight at the supplier’s counter to pick it up.

To avoid queues when checking in at the airport, many companies allow you to check-in online in advance. You can do it from home, with your mobile or PC. Also in some self-check-in machines at the airport. But we always recommend checking in online.
Once you have passed the security checks, you must go to your corresponding boarding gate in the boarding area.
