It was a sunny spring day when the moment we had been waiting for so long finally arrived to say “I do” in our beloved Nerja, in the most beautiful and spectacular place on the Costa del Sol that had stolen our hearts years before.
The Salvador church, with its white facade and colorful tiles, was the perfect setting for our ceremony. As I walked down the aisle, tears in my eyes, the sound of the waves gently breaking in the distance in my head, I felt a mixture of emotion and gratitude.
I had come a long way from England to this beautiful Andalusian village, and now I was about to take the most important step of my life.
Magical ceremony in Nerja
The ceremony was magical. The sunlight filtered through the stained glass windows, creating an atmosphere that seemed straight out of a fairy tale. Our friends and family, many of them also expats, were there, smiling and wiping away tears of happiness.
When we finally exchanged our vows, I knew we had made the right choice in choosing this location; every corner of the church seemed to be imbued with love.
After the ceremony, we headed to the famous Balcón de Europa for our photo shoot. The sea breeze played with my veil as my husband and I posed in front of the stunning views of the Mediterranean.
The beauty of the landscape was simply overwhelming, and every click of the camera captured not only our love, but also the essence of this place that had become our home.

As the sun began to set, dyeing the sky in shades of orange and pink, we lost ourselves in a moment of complicity.
There, on the Balcón de Europa, surrounded by friends, laughter, and a dreamlike landscape, I realized that we weren’t just celebrating our wedding; we were building a new chapter of our life together, in a place we would always carry in our hearts.
That night, the celebration continued at a cozy local restaurant, where we toasted with Spanish wine and danced to flamenco. The happiness was palpable, and in every smile, in every hug, I felt like we had found a home not only in Nerja, but in the love we shared.
The magic of that day, in the Church of El Salvador and on the Balcón de Europa, will remain etched in our memory forever.
