The beaches of Nerja obtain 3 blue flags in 2022. The Blue Flag will fly this summer in three beaches of Nerja. The award-winning beaches are:
- Burriana Beach
- Torrecilla Beach
- Maro Beach
This distinction is awarded annually by the Association for Environmental and Consumer Education (ADEAC) in recognition of the quality of bathing waters, the state of the beaches and the services offered to its users.
Nerja is one of the tourist destinations of reference in Spain and one of the most visited municipalities on the Costa del Sol. This recognition of the quality of Nerja’s beaches will help maintain the good score of Nerja’s beaches for the quality of its services.
What are the blue flags on the beaches?
The Blue Flags are a badge that is granted after ADEAC inspections and audits to those municipalities that request it. The municipalities must comply with a series of criteria for information, environmental education, water quality, environmental management, security and services.
Which country has the most Blue Flag beaches?
Spain is the country with the most blue flags. In 2021 it obtained 614 blue flags throughout the country. According to the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) – an international voluntary program that requires beaches to adhere to strict criteria regarding water quality, environmental management, accessibility and education.
