El Chiringuito de Ayo receives a national food award from Spain. This award recognizes the important role that hospitality establishments have played during these years of the pandemic and their presence for many years.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has awarded the extraordinary Food of Spain 2021 prize to Chiringuito Ayo for the uniqueness of these establishments linked to tourism and that offer a varied gastronomy that is representative of the Spanish lifestyle.

Spain has thousands of beach bars scattered throughout the Spanish coast, but the jury has personalized this award at the Chiringuito Ayo in Nerja (Malaga). A beach bar in Nerja that in its more than 50 years of experience has become one of the most famous beach bars in Spain. A reference in Andalusia, Spain and Europe.

The Hospitality Association of Spain was founded in 1977 and represents more than 315,000 establishments. (restaurants, bars, cafes and pubs). And they give jobs to more than 1 million people. Generating about 100 million euros a year. A very important contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Spain.

AYO’s Beach Bar in Nerja

Ayo is a restaurant on Burriana beach. A restaurant well known by tourists. The owner Francisco Ortega Olalla (83 years old), is an example of dedication and commitment to his environment, neighbors and visitors.
